I am betting by now that most of you have seen the 2014 Fishing Forecast. If you have not, take some time and study that, your fishing will be better this year if you plan to fish the best waters!
Some of you will want to do some more research into the fish populations in your favorite waters, and if you want even more fish data, be sure to check out this page, Fish Sampling Program. If you go to that page you will find not only the annual fishing forecast, but summaries of fish population, and in some cases angler data, for specific bodies of water around Nebraska. Those summaries include several years of data on specific bodies of water and will give you a real good idea of the dynamics, the ups and downs, of fish populations in a number of our waters. If you are a hard-core angler, that information will tell you even more about your favorite bodies of water and help you even more in planning your fishing strategies for this and coming years. It will also give you a glimpse of the kinds of things pointy-headed fisheries biologists look at when monitoring the health of our fisheries, evaluating our management activities on those fisheries, and planning on how we can develop and maintain good fishing into the future.
Check back from time to time; updated summaries are added as they are completed.
Look it over, do some homework, it will make you a better angler!
