LINCOLN – The following is a listing of Nebraska Game and Parks Commission events and important dates in January:

Jan. 1 – First segment of light goose hunting season closes

Jan. 1 – Mountain lion hunting opens in Pine Ridge Unit Season 1 and Prairie Unit

Jan. 4 – Duck and coot hunting seasons close in Zone 3, Low Plains Unit

Jan. 5 – National Bird Day, Ponca SP, Ponca, 402-755-2284

Jan. 5-26 – Duck and coot hunting seasons in Zone 2, High Plains Unit

Jan. 13 – First day of spring turkey hunting permit sales

Jan. 17 – Dark goose hunting season closes in North Central Unit

Jan. 17 – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission board meeting, Lincoln

Jan. 18 – Youth, Landowner, Season Choice and River Antlerless deer hunting seasons close

Jan. 19 – Special Public Health Hazard Order crow hunting closes

Jan. 20 – Crow hunting season opens statewide

Jan. 21 – Pheasants Forever prescribed burn training workshop, Chadron, Upper White Natural Resources District (NRD), 430 E. 2nd St., 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 22 – Pheasants Forever prescribed burn training workshop, Grand Island, UNL Extension, 3180 W. U.S. Hwy. 34, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 23 – Pheasants Forever prescribed burn training workshop, North Platte, Mid-Plains Community College North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive, Room 2, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 23 – Pheasants Forever prescribed burn training workshop, Lincoln, UNL Extension, 444 Cherry Creek Road, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 25 – Second segment of light goose hunting season opens

Jan. 26 – Duck and coot hunting seasons close in Zone 3, High Plains Unit

Jan. 30 – Pheasants Forever prescribed burn training workshop, Sidney, South Platte NRD, 551 Parkland Drive, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 31 – October and November Late Doe/Fawn antelope hunting seasons close

Jan. 31 – Pheasant, quail and partridge hunting seasons close

Jan. 31 – Fall turkey hunting season closes

Jan. 31 – Grouse hunting season closes

Jan. 31 – Squirrel hunting season closes
