Lake Wanahoo State Recreation Area (SRA) is hosting an  Eagle Extravaganza on April 6. The event is planned to introduce the public to the lake’s nesting eagle pair.   The public will be provided the opportunity to learn about the eagles that have selected the lake as the best place to raise their young.

Hosts from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will have binoculars and spotting scopes available for visitors to view the pair of bald eagles nesting in a tree in the lake.

The event will take place on the breakwater near the bridge from 8-11 a.m.  Activities are planned  that include eagle masks and bird journals to introduce young and old alike to the thrill of eagle watching.

Lake Wanahoo SRA is located just north of Wahoo in Saunders County. A park entry permit is required.
