The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) hosted its sixth annual Carp-O-Rama at Lake Maloney State Recreation Area (SRA) this month. The event was a huge success according to the smiles seen and laughter heard. LINCOLN, Neb. – Anglers of all ages interested in learning all aspects of carp fishing are invited to attend Carp-O-Rama on June 23 at Branched Oak State Recreation Area (SRA). This free event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Liebers Point. Carp caught by anglers will be used in demonstrations on cleaning, preparing and cooking the fish. LINCOLN – Anglers interested in learning all aspects of carp fishing may attend Carp-O-Rama on June 21 at Pawnee State Recreation Area (SRA). The free event is from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on the east side of the lake, near the boat ramp. Pawnee SRA is located 3 miles northwest of Emerald in Lancaster County. Loaner fishing poles will be available. Nothing to Carp About

The nice spring weather here in Nebraska this weekend was certainly nothing to carp about and neither was the fishing action today along one of Nebraska’s water trails — the Elkhorn River as well as in a nearby backwater pond! My buddy Andre and I took his eight year-old daughter Isabelle fishing on her Uncle Mark’s land. She had a blast catching carp using whole nightcrawlers! Even I landed one.
