Fluctuating Water May Expose or Conceal Boating Hazards

LINCOLN, Neb. – Levels on water bodies fluctuate constantly. Nebraska boaters should be aware that rising and falling levels can create hazards. Many water bodies are flood-control structures where levels rise during heavy rains and wash potential hazards into new areas. Other bodies are used for irrigation and experience draw-downs during the summer, creating and exposing additional hazards. Cowboy Trail Bridge Ribbon Cutting Near Norfolk on June 1

LINCOLN, Neb. – A ribbon cutting for the new Cowboy Trail Bridge near Norfolk is set for June 1 at 10:30 a.m. The Cowboy Trail Bridge, formally known as Broken Bridge, spans 200 feet across the Elkhorn River and is designed to look similar to the historic trestle railroad bridge that was washed out during the 2010 flood. Lemmon Hired as Park Superintendent I at Fort Robinson

The State Parks Division has announced the appointment of Robert Lemmon to the Park Superintendent I position at Fort Robinson State Park.   Lemmon is not unfamiliar with Fort Robinson having grown up at the Park as a youngster and working there for many years as a student.  He began his career at the Fort as a temporary employee for several seasons while attending high school and college.

Riggins Assumes New Role as Southwest Reservoirs Park Superintendent III

Aric Riggins has accepted a new challenge in his career with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.  Riggns will be transitioning from his position at Buffalo Bill State Historical Park to the Southwest Reservoirs Park Superintendent III position. Riggins began his career with the Agency as Park Superintendent I at Buffalo Bill State Historical Park, September, 2000 and was promoted to lead Park Superintendent III position in November, 2011.

Scheels 3-D Archery Shoot is June 1-2 at Ponca State Park

LINCOLN, Neb. – All ages are welcome to participate in the Fourth Annual Scheels Sixty 3-D Archery Shoot at Ponca State Park on June 1-2. The event will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. both days and features 60 challenging 3-D targets. Demonstrations of the newest bows and crossbows will also be available.
