How to shoot a Triceratops

Lions, Leopards and Bears – oh, my! In effort to avoid a case of the off-season blues I shot a turkey, deer and a triceratops this past Sunday.  The targets were all part of Blair’s own Orion Archery Club and their annual Brandon Tomcak Memorial 3D Shoot.  The entire event was designed to give youth, and their parents, a chance to take part in this amazing family activity.  Bows, arrows and instruction were available to all that had the need.  …

We lost one

As several Peregrine watchers have duly noted, one of our four chicks died within the past 24 hours.   Hopefully this is an isolated case.  Currently, the other three chicks all appear fine and quite spry.  Coincidentally, the Woodmen also lost a chick about a week ago (at about the same age) and all four of the remaining chicks appeared fine at the time of the one chicks death.   I, along with Lauren Dinan and our partners from Raptor …

National Survey Will Explore Dove Hunter Opinions

LINCOLN, Neb. – Some Nebraska dove hunters will be asked to participate in the National Dove Hunter Survey. Hunters will begin seeing surveys in the mail later in June. The national survey will ask dove hunters to share their experiences and opinions about dove hunting. Topics will include learning about hunter characteristics, time spent hunting, hunters’ perceived constraints to hunting, and thoughts about potential effects of spent lead from hunting ammunition on mourning doves and other wildlife. Regulations Restrict Movement of Some Collected Baitfish

LINCOLN, Neb. – With growing concerns over aquatic invasive species, new regulations are in place to restrict the movement of baitfish collected in eastern Nebraska.
