Hunters Should Be Aware of Possible Toxic Blue-Green Algae

LINCOLN – Hunters around Olive Creek State Recreation Area should be aware of a report that a dog swimming in the lake recently has died. The cause of death is unconfirmed, but it is suspected that ingestion of toxic blue-green algae might be the cause of death. Game and Parks’ Kuhn Honored by State Park Directors

LINCOLN – Roger Kuhn, assistant director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, was honored with a special award on Sept. 4 at the National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) annual meeting in Omaha. Kuhn, of Ashland, was recognized for his special, extended efforts and contributions that advance the general goals of the NASPD. Pollinator Workshop Sept. 19 in Nebraska City

LINCOLN – The public is invited to a free workshop Sept. 19 in Nebraska City to discuss the importance of pollinators. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Pheasants Forever will host the workshop at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, 100 Valmont Drive. Family Fishing Night in Broken Bow on Sept. 11

LINCOLN – Anglers, especially young and inexperienced ones, are invited to attend Family Fishing Night in Broken Bow on Sept. 11. Small-bore Silhouette Championships Set for Sept. 27

LINCOLN – The annual Nebraska High School Small-bore Silhouette Championships will be held Sept. 27 at the Pressey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Custer County. This free competition is open to Nebraska high, junior high and middle school students who have received a certificate verifying completion of a hunter education program. Team competition is comprised of four-person teams in school, 4-H, and open categories. Shooters are not required to compete in teams. Dove Season Opens in Nebraska

LINCOLN – The statewide dove hunting season opened in Nebraska on Sept. 1 and will run through Oct. 30. The daily bag and possession limits are 15 and 45, respectively. Bag limits are for mourning, white-winged and Eurasian collared doves in aggregate. Nebraska residents 16 years and older and all nonresidents are required to have a valid Nebraska hunting permit, habitat stamp and Harvest Information Program (HIP) number. Hunters May Enter Lottery for Deer Hunting Access on the Central Platte

LINCOLN – Hunters may enter a lottery to gain deer hunting access to Platte River Recreation Access (PRRA) lands in the central Platte River Valley, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
