Oglala Lakota storyteller featured at Ponca State Park event

LINCOLN, Neb. – Oglala Lakota storyteller Jerome Kills Small will be featured in a program July 7 at Ponca State Park. Kills Small will entertain with iktomi (trickster tales) and ohunkanka (old legends) that were passed down for generations as part of the Lakota and Dakota Sioux traditions. Youth bow fishing mentoring programs available

LINCOLN, Neb. – Two bow fishing mentoring programs are available in eastern Nebraska this summer for youth age 10 to 15. These free programs, hosted by Bowfishers of Nebraska, allow youth to explore the challenge and excitement of harvesting fish with archery gear. They will learn about equipment, safety, regulations, and care for harvested fish, and will shoot from both the shore and a boat. No experience is needed, and equipment is provided. Three parks to host Christmas Bird Counts in December

LINCOLN, Neb. – Take part in a winter tradition and participate in the Christmas Bird Count this month at three state park areas across the state.
