Blair’s Miller Wins 2016 Cornhusker Cup

DONIPHAN, Neb. – Billy Miller of Blair relied on consistency during a weekend of inconsistent conditions to top the field in the 47th annual Cornhusker Trapshoot on Saturday at the Nebraska Trapshooting Association home grounds. The junior won the Cornhusker Cup by hitting 143 of 150 targets over two days. He hit 72 of 75 at 16 yards Friday on a breezy, but mostly dry, day. Ashland’s Johansson Wins 16-Yard Title at Cornhusker Trapshoot

DONIPHAN, Neb. – Maxwell Johansson of the Ashland 4-H trap team was the winner in 16-yard targets in the senior high division of the 47th Annual Cornhusker Trapshoot on Friday. He shot a perfect score of 75 and then won a shoot-off against two competitors. Riley Ross of Grand Island and Brandon Kreikemeier of Omaha Creighton Prep also shot 75s and finished second and third, respectively. Spellman No Stranger to Cornhusker Trapshoot

DONIPHAN, Neb. – Maddy Spellman is no stranger to the Cornhusker Trapshoot. She has competed in the annual event for a few years now. Thursday was a first for her. It was the first time the 13-year-old has competed in the event shooting from a wheelchair. Spellman, who has been shooting since a young age, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia six years ago. She has undergone chemotherapy, radiation treatment and a stem cell transplant. Several State Park Areas to Receive Recycled-Tire Picnic Tables

LINCOLN – Several Nebraska state park areas will receive picnic tables made of recycled tires, thanks in part to a grant. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has received a grant from the Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grants Program administered by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality for the purchase of 155 picnic tables made from 25 percent recycled tire material. “The purpose of the grant is to provide park areas with picnic tables that use scrap tire product …

LINCOLN – The largest field in the history of the Cornhusker Trapshoot will include the defending Cornhusker Cup champion and a strong list of competitors when action begins this week. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission reminds Nebraska boaters that any operator of a motorboat or personal watercraft born after Dec. 31, 1985 is required to be certified in boater safety. In addition to successfully completing a boating safety course, the operator must be in possession of a valid certificate. Nonresidents may present a certificate from their state.
