LINCOLN, Neb. – A health alert for harmful algal blooms, also known as toxic blue-green algae, has been issued at Wagon Train Lake in Lancaster County. Visitors to Wagon Train State Recreation Area should avoid full-body contact activities that could lead to swallowing water, such as swimming, wading, skiing, jet skiing, etc. Non-contact activities such as boating, fishing and camping are OK. LINCOLN, Neb. – Riverview Marina State Recreation Area (SRA) in Nebraska City and the boat ramp at Indian Cave State Park near Shubert are closed to the public until further notice due to high flows from the Missouri River. In addition, the high water from heavy recent rains have put the boat ramps out of service at Wagon Train and Bluestem SRAs in Lancaster County. LINCOLN, Neb. – Visitors to six state recreation areas will be allowed to touch off fireworks on Independence Day, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Those visitors should always use caution when lighting fireworks. Road work to cause road closures near Wagon Train SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – Visitors to Wagon Train State Recreation Area (SRA) should expect detours beginning this week. Lancaster County is replacing a culvert at the corner of South 96th Street and Hickman Road. The park will remain open during construction, but visitors to the popular area should watch for detour signs. Construction is expected to last approximately eight days. Family Fun Night scheduled at Wagon Train SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – Bring the entire family to Wagon Train State Recreation Area for a fun night of outdoor activities Sept. 12. Family Fun Night will include fishing, tomahawk throwing, astronomy, Project Wild nature activities, aerial archery and hiking. 2014 Animal Run to Benefit Wagon Train State Recreation Area

LINCOLN – The 31st annual Animal Run in Feb. 1 in Hickman will support Wagon Train State Recreation Area (SRA). The annual fun run, sponsored by the Voice News, raises money for a different cause each year. Access Road to Wagon Train SRA Boat Ramp to Reopen Oct. 11

LINCOLN, Neb. – The access road to the boat ramp at Wagon Train State Recreation Area in Lancaster County will reopen Friday, Oct. 11 and the ramp will be available. Crews have cleaned up those areas after an Oct. 3 storm downed numerous trees and destroyed structures. The other areas closed due to the storm will remain closed while cleanup continues.
