Mountain Lion Killed in Omaha

LINCOLN — Omaha police shot and killed a mountain lion near 120th and Q streets in Millard Wednesday evening. Police responded to a call around 5 p.m. that a mountain lion was near the Project Harmony Building at 119th and Q streets. The Nebraska Humane Society also responded, as did a veterinarian. LINCOLN – A young male mountain lion was shot and killed on the evening of March 8 approximately 5 miles south of Whiteclay in Sheridan County. A homeowner and a neighbor were working outside when they heard growling come from under the porch of the farmhouse. They found the cat growling at them from under the porch. Information Sought on Killing of Mountain Lion

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information on a female mountain lion that was illegally shot and left lay in the Pine Ridge National Forest south of Chadron in Dawes County. An individual hunting in the area reported finding the mountain lion, which was estimated to be about a year and a half old, late last week. Mountain Lion Harvested in Dakota County

LINCOLN – An 89-pound female mountain lion was harvested on the morning of Nov. 17 in Dakota County. This is the second mountain lion harvested in the Prairie Unit, which has been open since Jan. 1. Mountain Lion Killed Near Chadron

LINCOLN – A 1½- year-old female mountain lion was shot south of Chadron in Dawes County on Oct. 23. The mountain lion was shot in a ranch yard near the landowner’s house and chicken coop. The subadult mountain lion weighed approximately 63 pounds. As required by law, the man immediately notified authorities after the animal was shot and the animal was transferred to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Dead Mountain Lion Found Near Ericson

LINCOLN – The body of a female mountain lion that may have been killed by a vehicle was discovered along a road near Ericson on Oct. 9. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is investigating. While there are signs the cat may have been struck by a vehicle, officials are awaiting the completion of forensic analysis. Iowa Man Cited for Shooting Mountain Lion

LINCOLN – A 23-year-old Iowa man has been cited for shooting a mountain lion out of season near Crawford on the evening of Sept. 6. The man was hunting deer with archery equipment from a tree stand on Ponderosa Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Dawes County when the incident occurred. He reported shooting the lion to the Dawes County Sherriff’s Department that night. Mountain Lion Confirmed in Alliance

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has confirmed mountain lion presence in Alliance through video taken on the evening of Aug. 6 near the city landfill. Authorities are attempting to remove the animal and request that people remain outside of the landfill area. Game and Parks requests that anyone who observes a mountain lion in Alliance immediately contact the Alliance Police Department, the Box Butte County Sherriff’s Office, or Game and Parks.

LINCOLN — A 5-month-old female mountain lion was shot south of Chadron in Dawes County on Saturday, July 19. A man reported noticing the animal crouched in the grass about 20 yards from his residence, where two young children were present on a patio.
