Got into the office this morning and found documentation for another state record fish.  This was another notable catch, a big fish, a big popular sport fish! For years I have been saying that if our rod & reel record for hybrid striped bass, wiper, was ever going to fall, it was going to come from Lake McConaughy. It did! New prohibition on alcohol possession focuses on making Lake McConaughy safer, more family-friendly

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, working in collaboration with Ogallala and Keith County area partners, will implement actions designed to make the Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala state recreation areas safer and more family-friendly destinations by enhancing recreational facilities and prohibiting the possession of alcohol. The new regulation, which now bans the possession and consumption of alcohol at the two state recreation areas, officially went into effect June 9. Management plans also call for increased law …

Permit required for tractors at Lake McConaughy SRA

NORTH PLATTE, Neb – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is reminding park visitors and area residents of the mandatory permitting process for tractors operating on the beaches of Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area (SRA). Body of man recovered from Lake McConaughy

LINCOLN, Neb. – The body of a Littleton, Colorado man was recovered from Lake McConaughy on Aug. 20. At 11:19 a.m. Mountain time, the Lake McConaughy Dive Rescue (LMDR) team was paged to a call of a body in the water about 2 miles west of Van’s Lakeview on Lake McConaughy.
