Public invited to Summit Lake SRA public meeting

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host a public meeting to gather input on hunting at Summit Lake State Recreation Area in Burt County on May 15. Currently, approximately 175 acres of the 535-acre area are open to hunting annually beginning the Tuesday after Labor Day. Rifle deer hunting also is permitted at the site. Increased liquidated damages for game law violations

LINCOLN, Neb. – Gov. Pete Ricketts has signed into law a measure that increases liquidated damages levied against persons who violate certain Nebraska game laws by killing, possessing or selling wildlife illegally. Liquidated damages are assessed by the courts that are in addition to fines imposed for violating the game law. Commission approves deer, antelope and elk hunting recommendations

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved recommendations for 2018 deer, antelope and elk hunting seasons when it met April 19 at Fort Robinson State Park near Crawford. Among the big game changes to Commission orders: Deer — 1,550 buck permits are added in the Calamus East, Frenchman, Keya Paha, Loup East, Loup West, Plains, Platte, and Sandhills units. — 700 buck permits are removed from the Blue Northwest and Wahoo units. — 750 any-deer permits are …

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider 2018 waterfowl hunting season recommendations at its March 16 meeting in Columbus. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. on the lower level of Pinnacle Bank, 210 E. 23rd St. A public hearing is scheduled at the meeting for the waterfowl recommendations.
