LINCOLN, Neb. — Caddy’s Parkside Grill at the Peter Kiewit Lodge is closing its doors after two years of providing food service to guests at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. “This situation is unfortunate and is precipitated in part by diminished demand for sit-in dining options in conjunction with the present and growing COVID pandemic trends,” said Jim Swenson, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Parks Division administrator. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks, as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area. Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas on certain dates using specific equipment. LINCOLN, Neb. – Limited overnight lodging at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s Peter Kiewit Lodge and the Fort Robinson State Park Lodge will return July 30. This is part of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s continuing effort to restore park opportunities and amenities while protecting the public and staff from the spread of COVID-19. Prescribed fires planned at Mahoney State Park

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will be conducting prescribed fires at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park near Ashland starting Feb. 27. These fires are part of an ongoing prairie and oak woodland restoration project and will help control the spread of invasive plants. Exact dates of the fires will depend on weather. Affected trails and roads in portions of the park will be marked with signs and closed during the fires.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rainbow trout will be stocked in Lincoln, Omaha and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park waters this month to provide excellent fishing opportunities this winter.
