Special deer hunts at Mahoney SP, Platte River SP, Schramm Park SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks, as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area. Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas of a park on certain dates using specific equipment. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Family Aquatic Center at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park will be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 6, because of a lifeguard shortage. Additionally, guests visiting state park areas for the holiday weekend should be mindful that continued staffing shortages may result in additional wait times for services, including cabin check-ins and park permit sales. Mahoney SP’s Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge opens for reservations Aug. 20

LINCOLN, Neb. – Construction of the Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park has been completed and reservations will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 20. Salvaged trout to be stocked at CenturyLink Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rainbow trout from four ponds at Schramm Park State Recreation Area will be stocked at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s CenturyLink Lake on March 2. These trout, which range in length from 12 to 18 inches, will be salvaged from the park’s four canyon ponds. By comparison, trout stocked in annual spring stockings are approximately 10 inches in length. The ponds are being temporarily drained so they and the spring that supplies them can be evaluated.
