Commissioners adopt waterfowl season recommendations

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission adopted 2020/2021 waterfowl hunting season recommendations at its March 20 meeting in Hastings. Before approving, commissioners changed some duck season dates in zones 2 and 3 to allow for a Saturday opening day. The 2020/2021 waterfowl season dates are: Early Teal – Low Plains: Sept. 5-20; High Plains: Sept. 5-13; Daily bag limit: six; Possession limit: Three times the daily bag limit Youth Waterfowl – Zone 1: Oct. 3-4; Zone 2: …

Game and Parks seeks information on Scotts Bluff County wanton waste case

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information on illegally dumped waterfowl southwest of Melbeta in Scotts Bluff County. It is believed that the carcasses of 52 Canada geese and 33 ducks were thrown into a waterway southwest of Melbeta late last week. The violation was reported to Game and Parks law enforcement over the weekend. There was no attempt to salvage any of the meat on any of the birds. Anyone who intentionally abandons an …

I always tote my camera along wherever I’m going these days to capture glimpses of wildlife and so should you! This Thanksgiving holiday period I decided to bring my camera with me to our Thanksgiving family rendezvous with my in-laws who live on Kuester Lake located on the east side of Grand Island, NE. See Spring Waterfowl Migration near Metro Area

If you live in or around the Omaha-metro area, you don’t have to travel very far to experience the spring migration of waterfowl. I took these shots today along the Elkhorn and Platte Rivers in western Douglas and Sarpy Counties. The rivers were busy places with ducks and geese here and there! MORE CANADA GOOSE HUNTING PICS

Sharing some more pics from Canada goose hunting this weekend in Nebraska’s East Dark Goose Unit, but this time in western Sarpy and Douglas Counties along the Elkhorn River. Quite an experience! There were a lot of Canada geese around the river!
