Medicine Creek’s Trail 4 boat ramp closed during irrigation releases

LINCOLN, Neb. – Medicine Creek Reservoir’s Trail 4 boat ramp has been closed temporarily due to receding water from irrigation releases. The ramp should be back in service in September or October, depending on inflows back into the Frontier County reservoir after releases are shut down. “The closing of this ramp is typical for this time of year with irrigation releases from the reservoir,” said Aric Riggins, southwest regional park superintendent for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. “It happens …

Calamus’ Buckshot Bay ramp to temporarily close July 13

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Buckshot Bay boat ramp at Calamus State Recreation Area near Burwell will be closed temporarily Monday, July 13 to repair the dock damaged by a weekend storm. The ramp is expected to reopen by mid-afternoon. Additionally, the storm damaged some trees at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area near Loup City. Mulberry Bend WMA boat ramp closed due to damage

LINCOLN, Neb. – The boat ramp at Mulberry Bend Wildlife Management Area in Dixon County is closed temporarily due to damage from recent rains. Rains have caused undercutting and erosion under large portions of the ramp. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is working to repair the ramp. Memphis Lake boat ramp closed temporarily

LINCOLN, Neb. – The boat ramp at Memphis Lake in Saunders County is closed temporarily because of low water. The lake has been drawn down to facilitate a wetland restoration project, and large rocks at the end of the boat ramp have been exposed. The wetland restoration project, a joint effort of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Nebraska Environmental Trust and Ducks Unlimited, is expected to improve wildlife habitat, increase wetland management capabilities, and improve hunter access. Liberalized fishing regulations declared for Stagecoach Reservoir

LINCOLN, Neb. – Stagecoach Reservoir will be drawn down this fall for the construction of a new boat launch facility. In addition, the fishery will be renovated and a public salvage will be allowed. A 10-foot drawn-down will allow for the construction of a new, lighted boat ramp, gravel kayak launch, and a new breakwater to protect the ramp and increase access for shoreline anglers. Merritt Reservoir boat ramp project postponed

LINCOLN – The boat launch facility construction project scheduled to start this fall at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area has been postponed because of higher than expected reservoir water levels. Water levels at Merritt this summer did not drop low enough to reach the level needed for construction. Construction will be attempted again in the late summer or early fall of 2017. LINCOLN – New Missouri River boat ramps at Mulberry Bend and Elk Point Bend wildlife management areas (WMA) in Dixon County are now open for public use.
