Drawdown will affect boating access at three SRAs

A planned drawdown of Lake Ogallala for infrastructure maintenance will affect boating access at three Nebraska state recreation areas this fall. Lake Ogallala, Sutherland Reservoir and Lake Maloney SRAs will have limited access. It will begin with the Sept. 26 lowering of Lake Ogallala as part of a scheduled maintenance project on the Keystone Diversion Dam by the Nebraska Public Power District. Hunters may enter lottery for deer hunting access on Central Platte

Hunters may enter a lottery to gain deer hunting access to Platte River Recreation Access lands in the Central Platte River Valley, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Fifty-one hunters will be chosen from a random drawing in early September and allowed to hunt deer on designated PRRA lands Nov. 16-20, 2022. A construction project is underway at Rock Creek Station State Historical Park near Fairbury that will limit some visitor access within the park from time to time. LINCOLN, Neb. – A planned water-level drawdown of Summit Lake is underway, prompting the closure of the swimming beach and creating limited access for watercraft launching. A sediment basin maintenance project prompted the need to lower water levels at the Burt County reservoir. Access to Hudson Lake closed due to poor road conditions

LINCOLN, Neb. – Access to Hudson Lake in Cherry County temporarily is closed because of poor road conditions. Hudson Lake, which is about 24 miles southwest of Valentine, is available for public recreation when conditions allow through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Open Fields and Waters Program, including daytime ice-fishing from December through February. Conditions will be assessed on a weekly basis to determine the lake’s reopening.

Access to Blue Lake closed temporarily

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is temporarily closing access to Blue Lake in the Sandhills of Garden County while the ground thaws. Commission fisheries staff decided this week to close the 2.7-mile two-track trail through private property because of poor road conditions brought on by a wet spring.
