I recently received the email message (and photos) below from Colorado and wanted to share it with all of you. Jane Gustafson, who heads our Game and Parks Marketing Section, says that the focus of agency advertising efforts is to get kids in the field hunting and to make Nebraska the place where they do this. She also says that many Nebraskans have family out-of-state and what a better way to encourage these folks to come back, visit and spend time outdoors hunting than with a basic, low-cost ad like this one.

Gentlemen,
With the nearly sixty-degree weather here in Colorado recently, I can’t help but think about the Nebraska youth spring wild turkey hunting opener (and archery for me!). I’ve included a few pictures from last year’s hunt in Frontier County in southwestern Nebraska. The little dude in the pictures is my son Gage, who was five at the time and used a crow call to locate the gobbling birds. He can’t wait for our next trip to “The Good Life!” Despite his age, he’s already been my wing-man on a successful turkey hunt and three deer hunts in the Cornhusker State. My 14 year-old daughter has made it clear that this year is HER year to bag a Nebraska tom turkey! We’ll be back! A ton of credit for our hunts goes to our Nebraska rancher friends!
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission advertised in our small local paper (Westminster Window) last year! You simply can’t beat the $5 youth turkey permit and the ample opportunities that NE provides!
Keep up the good work with this, the blogs, Facebook, and emails over the last few years. I truly believe that by using technology that we’ll keep the kids involved!
