Thanksgiving 2023

Heading out the door for the long Thanksgiving holiday.  This Thanksgiving weekend will be unlike any others for our family.  Instead of traveling to “grandma’s house”, we will be staying home this year.  Family from far and wide will be coming to our town for the Thanksgiving weekend this year.  Yes, there is a special occasion for that. . . .

My son will be getting married over Thanksgiving weekend this year!  We are excited!

We are all really looking forward to the time together with family.  Oh yes, there will be celebrating and feasting this year, even more than usual!  Much of our excitement is just because of the time we will have together.

However, it is much, much more than that.  We are thrilled for Daniel and his wife-to-be Sarah.  Thrilled for the daughter-in-law we will be getting!

Now, I could post some cute engagement photo of the couple, but those of you who know me know that I ain’t gonna do that.  Nope, I have a different photo in mind, one that commemorates the holiday:

Daniel&SarahTurkeyHunting

That photo was taken during turkey season last spring.  Had a pretty good idea those two were right for each other when I saw that photo!

OK, OK, I will post a nice photo too.  Here is an engagement photo:

But I like this one, taken at a beautiful Nebraska spot many of you will recognize, a spot I took my wife-to-be many years ago:

Daniel and Sarah, we are so happy for you!  Thrilled for you, proud of you, love you!

At Thanksgiving every year I often write here how much for which we have to be thankful.  I have often mentioned how grateful I and all of my family are for God’s great outdoors in which we spend so much time, a lot of it together.  I also often comment on how thankful we are for family.  It will mean a little more this year.

Have a great Thanksgiving!  Enjoy your time with friends and loved ones.  If you get a chance spend some of it on the water or in the field.  And take some time to count your blessings, all of them!
