I’ve been around the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for sometime. This month of May marks my 35th year with the agency! And, I loved every bit of it! I am truly “living the dream!” So, on this Throwback Thursday, it’s “Wags on the Water.” One of my claims to fame is that I have canoed, kayaked or tanked each and every one of Nebraska’s Water Trails, and then some. As you know, from my previous blog posts, I have an affinity for flowing water — our Nebraska rivers, their ecosystems and especially the variety of wildlife that thrives in them, on them and near them. With that being said, here’s an old photo, circa 1983, of me with my Game and Parks compatriots at the time, during a reconnaissance float of the Elkhorn River for a Game and Parks/Omaha World-Herald co-sponsored Know Nebraska Tour. The public was invited to attend this type of tour, pay a fee to cover costs, and learn about an outdoor activity and/or a natural resource in Nebraska.
I thought you’d get a kick out of this old pic!

Back in 1998, Ralph Wall, our Video Producer/Outdoor NE Radio Host here at Game and Parks (yes, you’ve been around, too, for a while, Ralph!), tagged along with me and buddies on a Dismal River canoeing adventure in the central Nebraska Sandhills. Here’s the cool piece that Ralph did back in ’98 on this Throwback Thursday. This comes to us via our Game and Parks YouTube site. Enjoy, and laugh!
