With the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in full swing, the WOWT 6 Sports Machine crew and I will take to the snow cover with cross-country skis for our weekly WOWT 6 News Outdoor Report. Cross-country skiing is a fun winter outdoor activity to enjoy in our parks as well as a great workout, trust me on the workout thing! I went out early to practice for our segment to see how rusty my cross-country ski skills were/are. Mouth open … tongue out … pant!
For cross-country skiers, when there’s adequate snow cover on the nature trails at state parks and recreation areas, they become fun paths to be traversed! These photos are from the trails at northeastern Nebraska’s Lewis and Clark Lake State Recreation Area.
Come cross-country skiing with us and find out more information about this winter outdoor activity that can be done in a number of places by tuning in to my Weekly Outdoor Report which airs on WOWT 6 News during the the station’s 6 p.m. CST sportscast with Ross Jernstrom LIVE! See if I stayed upright on my skinny skis for the on-air segment. It sure didn’t happen for this photo shoot!
