Prescribed Burn Training Workshops Scheduled

LINCOLN – Pheasants Forever and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host prescribed burn training workshops for landowners across the state in the coming weeks.

Basic workshops are for beginning to intermediate burners and cover fire behavior, proper equipment and safety techniques, and ways to plan for burns to minimize risk. Advanced workshops will build on the basic trainings and be suitable for experienced burners seeking additional training in pre-planning and implementing a complex burn.

Schedules for both basic and advanced workshops follow:

Basic workshops:

Jan 21 – Chadron, Upper White Natural Resources District (NRD), 430 E. 2nd St., 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 22 – Grand Island, UNL Extension Office, 3180 W. U.S. Hwy. 34, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 23 – North Platte, Mid-Plains Community College North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive, Room 2, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 23 – Lincoln, UNL Extension Office, 444 Cherry Creek Road, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jan. 30 – Sidney, South Platte NRD, 551 Parkland Drive, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

March 19 – Wayne, Wayne State College Student Center, East 14th Street, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Advanced workshops:

Feb. 12 – Red Cloud, Community Center, 142 W. 3rd Ave., 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

March 5 – Loup City, Sherman Reservoir Wildlife Management Area, 79027 Sherman Dam Road, noon-3 p.m.
