LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials have confirmed that a female mountain lion was killed by a landowner north of Hay Springs in Sheridan County for depredating poultry. The landowner observed the mountain lion killing his chickens, shot and killed the 10- to 12-month-old mountain lion, and immediately reported to Game and Parks in accordance with state law. LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials have confirmed that a male mountain lion killed a calf near Hay Springs in Sheridan County. The owner of the land where the calf was killed contacted Game and Parks officials on May 30 after finding the carcass. Game and Parks representatives examined the carcass and immediate vicinity the following day. The condition of the carcass suggested a high probability that a mountain lion was responsible. LINCOLN – A mountain lion was dispatched in Gering during the late morning of July 21, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. A Nebraska Game and Parks conservation officer shot the 60-pound female after it was reported in a residential area of the city. It is Nebraska Game and Parks’ protocol to kill mountain lions found in municipalities.

Mountain Lion Killed in Omaha

LINCOLN — Omaha police shot and killed a mountain lion near 120th and Q streets in Millard Wednesday evening. Police responded to a call around 5 p.m. that a mountain lion was near the Project Harmony Building at 119th and Q streets. The Nebraska Humane Society also responded, as did a veterinarian. Information Sought on Killing of Mountain Lion

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information on a female mountain lion that was illegally shot and left lay in the Pine Ridge National Forest south of Chadron in Dawes County. An individual hunting in the area reported finding the mountain lion, which was estimated to be about a year and a half old, late last week. Mountain Lion Killed Near Chadron

LINCOLN – A 1½- year-old female mountain lion was shot south of Chadron in Dawes County on Oct. 23. The mountain lion was shot in a ranch yard near the landowner’s house and chicken coop. The subadult mountain lion weighed approximately 63 pounds. As required by law, the man immediately notified authorities after the animal was shot and the animal was transferred to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

LINCOLN – The body of a female mountain lion that may have been killed by a vehicle was discovered along a road near Ericson on Oct. 9. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is investigating.
