Remaining Big Game Permits Available Beginning July 13

LINCOLN – Hunters will be able to purchase remaining Nebraska big game permits beginning July 13. Starting at 1 p.m. Central Time, Nebraska residents, nonresidents and eligible landowners may purchase remaining deer and antelope permits. In addition, residents and eligible landowners may purchase remaining elk permits. Wild Elk Being Monitored

LINCOLN – A wild elk observed in the South Bend, Neb., area is being monitored for public safety by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The elk’s proximity to Interstate 80 and major roadways is a public safety concern. The wild elk is not part of the herd at the Wildlife Safari Park. Information Wanted for Poached Bull Elk

By Justin Haag Nebraska Game and Parks Commission LINCOLN – Conservation officers are seeking information in the investigation of the illegal killing and abandonment of a bull elk in northwestern Nebraska during the opening weekend of firearm deer season. The elk was found dead west of Crawford on the Peterson Wildlife Management Area, a 2,460-acre property managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for public hunting. Elk Collared in North-Central Nebraska

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently placed tracking collars on 11 elk in north-central Nebraska. The collars provide real-time location data and help Game and Parks better determine populations. Game and Parks contracted a helicopter animal capture crew to tranquilize and place GPS tracking collars and ear tags on the animals.
