Reel ’em in Roadtrip: Dog Days of Summer

Our kids were all home this past week, and family time and Johnson Lake time go hand in hand with the Berggrens. Grandkids enjoy the water dragon, and our kids still enjoy going for a pull. Jeanne and I even took our turn!

The gulls are just starting to arrive so surface activity should heat up this week. Persistence really paid off over the weekend as we opted to troll searching for white bass. Continuing to change speed and lure selection finally hit pay dirt!! We found 18 FOW was key continuing to follow the break lines off the island and humps. A 25-1/2″ walleye was quite a bonus this time of year.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer!

Nebraska Game and Parks District 6 Commissioner Lynn Berggren is in the midst of a “Reel ‘em in Roadtrip,” in which he and his are friends trying out the fishing at different Central Nebraska lakes. Over the coming weeks, he’ll be writing about his experiences. Check back to see where he’s been.
