With the kick off of football season around Nebraska (high school and college), on my WOWT-TV/Channel 6 Outdoors Segment I’ll be encouraging you to leave a little early for your game and tailgate in one of many Nebraska’s many state park lands. For those traveling from Omaha to Lincoln via Highway 6 for the Husker game Saturday evening, I’ll be telling you to leave a bit early Saturday afternoon and stop at this quiet, quaint state recreation area to grill some brats and burgers. Recognize it? (Photos are courtesy of the concession on the area).
Here’s the concession where ice, cold drinks and snacks are available for purchase!
Big Red Fans, you’ll have to tune in to find out where we’re going and for more information about this neat oasis for outdoor recreation off Highway 6 by watching my Weekly Outdoor Report that airs LIVE on Omaha’s WOWT-TV/Channel 6 and online at www.wowt.com Thursday evening during the station’s 6 p.m. CST sportscast.
If you’re unable to view the live broadcast of the outdoor report, video replays of it can be seen after the initial cast at this link: www.wowt.com/sports The report can also be accessed on Digital Channel 6.2 and Cox Cable Channel 120. Additionally, Channel 6 runs it on Saturdays later in its hour-long 8 a.m. newscast. The Channel 6 Sports Machine crew and I thank you for watching!
Now, what would a late August, early September Husker tailgate picnic be like without grilling some fresh Nebraska sweet corn, right?
Oh, and “GOOOO BIG RED!”
