Two campgrounds closed temporarily for construction at Sherman

The Thunder Bay and West Ridge campgrounds at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area near Loup City are closed temporarily because of construction. Burchard Lake road improvement project to affect access

Access to roads, the campground and boat ramp at Burchard Lake Wildlife Management Area in Pawnee County may be closed temporarily due to a road repair project there this fall. Mahoney SP’s conservatory to close temporarily for construction of new Venture Parks project

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s James Family Conservatory will be closed temporarily starting July 20 for the start of a yearlong construction project. The closure will accommodate the addition of the new Nature Center and Outdoor Education Classroom, a Venture Parks project. The tentative completion of the new project will be summer 2023. Work on Main Ramp Area at Merritt will cause temporary closures

Users of the Main Ramp Area at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area should be aware of repairs there June 22-24 that will result in temporary closures. Water draining from the pull-through near the ramp area has caused erosion undermining the sidewalk attached to the boat ramp, and immediate repairs are needed. No injuries were reported from the Saturday night storm that also damaged structures in the park. Prescribed fire exercise at Enders Reservoir SRA set for April 3

LINCOLN, Neb. – A prescribed fire exercise is scheduled for April 3 at Enders Reservoir State Recreation Area in Chase County. Portions of the SRA will be closed temporarily to public access during the exercise. The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department is conducting the training, along with other area volunteer fire departments, Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s Training Division, Nebraska State Forest Service, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Tower at Mahoney State Park to close temporarily

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Walter Scott Jr. Observation Tower and surrounding trails at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park will be closed temporarily due to construction starting Oct. 1. The temporary closure will accommodate the painting of the tower and Riverview Event Center construction, a Venture Parks project scheduled for completion in the fall of 2020. LINCOLN, Neb. – High water and forecasted heavy rain at Big Alkali Lake Wildlife Management Area have forced the temporary closure to vehicle access of the rental cabins and recreational vehicle camping pads on the east side of the fish camp. Only foot traffic is allowed. The rest of the area remains open to all access. Access may be closed with little notice due to water over the entrance road.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Riverview Marina State Recreation Area (SRA), which is located along the Missouri River in Otoe County, is closed until further notice because of flooding. Campgrounds, restrooms and other amenities are under water, and electricity to the park has been temporarily disconnected. LINCOLN, Neb. – Schilling Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Cass County is closed temporarily to vehicle traffic. The Missouri River has risen due to recent heavy rains, making roads impassable. The closure is in effect on a daily basis until water recedes. In addition, access to the Peru Boat Ramp in Nemaha County and other WMAs in southeastern Nebraska might be limited because of wet conditions.
