LINCOLN, Neb. – The visitor center and cave at Ash Hollow State Historical Park are closed through Oct. 12 due to a staffing shortage. They will reopen at 10 a.m. Oct. 13. The grounds of the historical park will remain open for visitors to enjoy hiking, picnicking, wildlife watching and other activities. LINCOLN, Neb. – All of the buildings at Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park in North Platte are temporarily closed because of a staffing shortage. LINCOLN, Neb. – Riverview Marina State Recreation Area in Nebraska City will be closed temporarily April 22 due to the replacement of a culvert under the entry roadway. One-lane access will be allowed starting April 23. Two-lane access should be available within two weeks.

Calamus’ Nunda Shoal boat ramp to close temporarily Sept. 29

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nunda Shoal boat ramp at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area in Loup County will close temporarily starting Sept. 29 so that contractors can repair the damaged ramp. LINCOLN, Neb. – The portion of Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area (SRA) south of Military Avenue in Fremont is temporarily closed due to high flows of the Platte River and the potential for rapid changes in the area’s lake levels. Recent flooding caused by ice jams on the Platte has resulted in some SRA lake levels to rise well above surrounding lakes. That created the potential for overtopping and erosion of low areas. LINCOLN, Neb. – The boat ramp at Memphis Lake in Saunders County is closed temporarily because of low water. The lake has been drawn down to facilitate a wetland restoration project, and large rocks at the end of the boat ramp have been exposed. The wetland restoration project, a joint effort of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Nebraska Environmental Trust and Ducks Unlimited, is expected to improve wildlife habitat, increase wetland management capabilities, and improve hunter access.
