Game and Parks seeks comment on updated pheasant management plan

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking public input on its updated draft pheasant management plan. The 2021 Berggren Plan is named after the late Lynn Berggren, who served as a Commissioner from 2007-2016. The plan seeks to improve the pheasant hunting experience in Nebraska over the next five years with a primary emphasis on improving habitat and increasing public access with several priority areas located throughout the state. Reminder: Public access to Hudson Lake closed Feb. 28

LINCOLN, Neb. – Ice anglers on Hudson Lake in Cherry County are reminded that public access to that private lake ended on Feb. 28. The lease agreement that allows ice-fishing on Hudson stipulates that public access is allowed during daylight hours from December through February.

Landowners have until June 19 to enroll in Open Fields and Waters

LINCOLN, Neb. – Private landowners have until June 19 to enroll their land in the Open Fields and Waters Program, in which they can earn additional income for allowing walk-in hunting, trapping and/or fishing access on their properties. Landowners with property offering hunting or fishing potential may be offered annual, per-acre payments from 50 cents to $15, depending on habitat type and location. Landowners are encouraged to consider allowing public, walk-in access on their property for hunting or fishing through the program.
