Portions of Enders Reservoir SRA to close temporarily March 14 for prescribed fire exercise

LINCOLN, Neb. – Portions of Enders Reservoir State Recreation Area (SRA) in Chase County will be closed temporarily to public access March 14 for a prescribed fire exercise. This is a joint exercise by the volunteer fire departments of Imperial and Wauneta, Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s Training Division, Nebraska State Forest Service, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Prescribed fires planned at Mahoney State Park

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will be conducting prescribed fires at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park near Ashland starting Feb. 27. These fires are part of an ongoing prairie and oak woodland restoration project and will help control the spread of invasive plants. Exact dates of the fires will depend on weather. Affected trails and roads in portions of the park will be marked with signs and closed during the fires.

LCRA receives grant from Nebraska Environmental Trust

North Platte, Neb. – The Loess Canyon Rangeland Alliance (LCRA) will receive $160,000 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust (NET) for the Grassland Stewardship with Prescribed Fire project. The Trust Board announced funding for the project at its meeting on April 5, 2018 in Lincoln. This is the first year of award with a potential for 2nd year funding totaling $140,000.
