List of Hunters Helping the Hungry meat processors changes

LINCOLN, Neb. – Hunters in south-central Nebraska wanting to participate in the Hunters Helping the Hungry program will have one less meat processor available to them during the November firearm deer season. Steakmaster Inc. of Elwood is not accepting deer. Hunters wishing to donate deer to the program during the Nov. 14-22 season can do so at eight processor locations, with two additional locations starting Nov. 14. Deer check moves online only in 2020 in light of coronavirus concerns

LINCOLN, Neb. – Because of COVID-19 concerns, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will not run check stations this firearm deer season. Instead, all deer will be checked in electronically via Telecheck. This decision was made to avoid close contact between check station workers and hunters during the Nov. 14-22 firearm deer season in an effort to protect public health. LINCOLN, Neb. – Deer harvest during the 2019 November firearm season in Nebraska is 2% ahead last year’s pace. During the nine-day season, there were 43,346 deer taken, compared to 42,466 in 2018. Mule deer buck harvest decreased 9%, with 7,172 taken, compared to 7,925 in 2018. LINCOLN, Neb. – Preliminary deer check-in numbers indicate that statewide harvest numbers are up approximately 8 percent compared to the 2018 opening weekend of Nebraska’s firearm season. During the 2019 opening weekend of the November firearm season, Nov. 16-17, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s northeast district check stations recorded 17% more deer than last year.
