Another Great Gobbler Experience in Nebraska!

I was fortunate enough to have another great gobbler experience this weekend here in Nebraska and was even able to bag yet another bearded bird in northern Douglas County yesterday! I had to really work to bag this adult gobbler with his thick 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. The toms were active but the birds were pretty well bunched up probably due to the weather. AFTERNOON IN THE ABYSS FOR THE MIGHTY CANADA

Spent an afternoon in the abyss of dense fog near the confluence of the Elkhorn and Platte Rivers yesterday in search of the mighty Canada goose. Decided not to put out any decoys or use the layout blinds because that fog was so thick. WHY I THOROUGHLY ENJOY THE LATE FIREARM DEER SEASON

It’s only an excuse for me to experience winter, watch wildlife, enjoy the scenery and shoot photos with a new camera … Really it is … I am referring to Nebraska’s Late Firearm Deer Hunting Season. I thoroughly enjoy it! The photos from my Saunders County expedition will sum up why. Of course, getting an antlerless deer (a whitetail doe) in the late firearm season is merely a bonus for me!
