LINCOLN, Neb. – Anglers can learn the basics of ice-fishing or pick up a few new tips from experienced anglers at three Discover Ice-Fishing clinics this month. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Youth Fishing Program will host two on-ice events and one classroom event. LINCOLN, Neb. – People may provide input on the proposed Fort Kearny Master Plan via the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s website. Campground upgrade scheduled for Fort Kearny SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – Fort Kearny State Recreation Area campground is getting an electrical upgrade, causing potential modern campsite closures through November. The update is being made to 26 non-electrical sites so each will be available for 50- , 30- and 20-amp service. The upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of November. Guided horseback rides now offered at Fort Kearny SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – People of all ages and skill levels now can enjoy guided horseback rides at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area. The rides, which became available Aug. 1, last one to two hours and feature a 3-mile trail winding through tallgrass prairie. Nine horses and three ponies are available. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has canceled the Family Ice-Fishing Clinic scheduled for Jan. 20 at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area Lake No. 6 near Kearney because of a lack of safe ice. It will not be rescheduled. LINCOLN, Neb. – Visitors to six state recreation areas will be allowed to touch off fireworks on Independence Day, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Those visitors should always use caution when lighting fireworks.
