Landowner elk applications continue through June 5

LINCOLN, Neb. – Eligible landowners may apply for one 2020 Nebraska elk hunting permit during the May 18 – June 5 application period. To download an application form, regulations and hunting unit descriptions, visit OutdoorNebraska.gov/huntingseasons. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission district offices still are closed to the public. Landowner elk applications should be mailed to the offices to arrive by June 5, 2020. The Rope Buck

The stuff one witnesses in the great outdoors never ceases to amaze. As of late, enter the story of the “rope buck.” During Nebraska’s 2019 muzzleloader deer hunting season in December, the neighboring landowner who lives to the south of our farm was in his stand watching for white-tailed deer. LINCOLN, Neb. – Applications for multispecies Super Tag and Combo lottery permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission beginning Jan. 2. The Super Tag lottery permit will be valid for one elk of either sex, one antelope of either sex, one deer of either sex and two turkeys (only toms and bearded hens may be taken in the spring). LINCOLN, Neb. – Samples to be tested for chronic wasting disease (CWD) will be collected at check stations in northeast, central and northwest Nebraska during the November firearm deer hunting season. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission staff will collect lymph nodes from select harvested deer during the Nov. 16-24 season from the Pine Ridge, Plains, Missouri, Elkhorn, Loup East and Calamus East units.
