Because of critically low cash contributions, several locations no longer can take donated deer and others cannot accept as many as hunters are willing to donate. LINCOLN, Neb. – Excitement and anticipation are building for Nebraskans as the Nov. 11 opener of firearm deer season approaches. Deer populations for 2017 are higher for mule deer and about the same for whitetails. Favorable habitat and weather conditions this past year should provide for good fawn production and good survival of adults and fawns. Venison Donation Programs Highlighted on WOWT 6 Outdoors

I’ll be highlighting the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s two venison donation programs on my Weekly TV Outdoor Report airing on Omaha’s WOWT 6 News this evening! The  two programs that support deer donation in Nebraska are Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH) and the Deer Exchange.
