Season for a Bunch of Bull(frogs)

“Frog catching is the most fun a human being can have while on this earth.” – Jase Robertson. Maybe it’s because I have rural Nebraska roots. Maybe it’s because I grew up exploring the Platte River bottoms and nearby sandpit lakes in Sarpy County. Maybe it’s the wild and crazy spirit that I possess. I don’t know. Whatever the case may be, I absolutely, positively enjoy bullfrog hunting in late summer at night! Froggin’, as it is commonly called, offers an unusual and …

If any of you reading my blog have not figured out by now, I am a HUGE fan and follower of In-Fisherman.  Simply put, if you want to become a better angler, you better be reading, watching, studying all of their “stuff”–videos, TV shows, radio shows, books, magazines, etc. Recently, in the flagship magazine, they have been re-running classic articles.  You may thing that is stupid for a magazine to do “re-runs”, but not if you consider the articles they …

Hunter/Landowner Relations: How Sweet It Can Be!

One of the many great things about hunting game animals and birds in Nebraska is developing a close relationship with the landowner and his or her family. In my case, besides being able to deer hunt on their river land, sweet corn is but yet another sweet reward from my own eastern Nebraska landowner friends who have become like family to me. In fact, the landowner and his family have even helped me pick a pickup load of sweet corn to take home! “Take all …

It’s a Classic

I have seen where some bloggers post what music they are listening to. . . . You should see my kids roll their eyes when I pop this cassette in. I do not know if they roll their eyes because of the song or because I am still listening to cassette tapes.  Hey, they are better than 8-tracks! Good things come to those who troll!
