LINCOLN, Neb. – Enjoy a day of history and food July 15 at central Nebraska’s Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park. A Dutch oven cooking demonstration will begin at 10:30 a.m., with three recipes available to sample. Humanities Nebraska will host a 3 p.m. program by author Jeff Barnes on his latest book, “Nebraska’s Landmark Buildings.” The park is located 6 miles southeast of Burwell in Valley County. A vehicle park entry permit is required.

LINCOLN, Neb. – A Becoming an Outdoors-Family Dutch oven cooking workshop is scheduled for June 29 at Louisville State Recreation Area in Cass County. Learn all about preparing tasty outdoor meals in a Dutch oven. The event is from 6-8:30 p.m. at Lake 2’s Meisinger Picnic Shelter. All equipment will be provided. The fee is $10. Nestled in beautiful fall colors and cool temperatures of the Nebraska National Forest, the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop was held last weekend at the 4-H camp near Halsey.
