Thought of the Week

P9290040

I have nothing today.  Might as well turn it over to the Muppets: Gotta love fish jokes.  Gotta love a guy with boomerang fish! Maybe I got nothing today because my mind is back on the river. . . . The citation on this quote is that it comes from a Chinese philosopher.  I hope the Chinese do not mind if I changed a word or two. Do not know if I am successful or not.  Some days I wonder.  …

A rural family was getting ready to tear down a dilapidated barn on their property when they noticed a baby owl peering over a ledge near the rafters. True stewards of wildlife, they called their local Nebraska Game and Parks office to find out what they could do. Typically, this type of information …

Outta the Office

DSCN1688

I do not do this often.  I blog regularly, no matter where I am, what I am doing.  But, I gotta tell you I may be off my schedule a bit here this coming week.  I will be traveling to a family celebration, a niece’s wedding.  Being out of the office, away from the computer, I likely will not post blogs as regularly as usual. Never fear, some time on the water will get worked in.  When I get back, I …

Skunk Stories

SkunkTouchCrop1

If you have spent anytime in the great out-of-doors, you should have a skunk story or three.  If you do not, well, you need to spend more time outdoors. I can think of several.  How to arrange them. . . ? Chapter 1, In the Beginning I have heard lots of skunk stories.  Can remember some doozies from my granddads.  Back in the day, skunk pelts were worth some money.  Gramps Roth would have said, “back when a dollar was …
