LINCOLN – There is still time to take children fishing for stocked bullheads this summer. In fact, many anglers started their fishing careers catching bullheads at a young age. Black bullheads raised at the Valentine State Fish Hatchery were stocked Sept. 1 at the following state recreation areas, with quantities: Louisville Lake No. 2A, 518; Fremont Lake No. 3, 1,100; Two Rivers Lake No. 7, 501; and Two Rivers Lake No. 6, 1,209. Mentored Youth Hunt Opportunities Available This Fall

LINCOLN – Two mentored youth hunting programs are available this fall for recent Hunter Education graduates. These programs of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and partner organizations allow participants to take their new-found hunting and shooting skills into the field, paired up with adult mentors. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved recommendations for the 2015 waterfowl and crow hunting seasons at a meeting Aug. 28 in Burwell. LINCOLN – September in Nebraska means football – and hunting. The first day of the month brings the opener of several hunting seasons, including dove, grouse and archery deer. Dove hunters should be reminded that they are required to have a Harvest Information Program number. They can obtain one at outdoornebraska.ne.gov/hip or by calling 1-877-634-8687. Living History Scheduled Sept. 5-6 at Fort Atkinson SHP

LINCOLN – Life at an 1820s military post will be depicted at Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP) on Sept. 5-6. Hunters May Enter Lottery for Deer Hunting Access on the Central Platte

LINCOLN – Hunters may enter a lottery to gain deer hunting access to Platte River Recreation Access (PRRA) lands in the central Platte River Valley, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Forty-six hunters will be chosen from a random drawing in early October and allowed to hunt deer on designated PRRA lands Nov. 16-22. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln will be closed to the public Saturday, Sept. 12 for the Women on Target Instructional Clinic. Recovery Efforts Continue with Stocking of Pallid Sturgeon in Missouri River

LINCOLN – More than 2,000 5- to 6-inch pallid sturgeon were stocked in the channelized portion of the Missouri River along Nebraska’s eastern border on Aug. 24. The stocking is part of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s recovery efforts for this federal- and state-listed endangered species. The pallid sturgeon were stocked in two locations. The first was at the newly-constructed Deer Island shallow-water habitat improvement project near Tekamah (river mile 762.3) in Burt County. Deer Island has more than …
