greg wagner

A native of Gretna, NE, a graduate of Gretna High School and Bellevue University, Greg Wagner currently serves as the Communications and Marketing Specialist and Manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's Service Center in Omaha. On a weekly basis, Wagner can be heard on a number of radio stations, seen on local television in Omaha, and on social media channels, creatively conveying natural resource conservation messages as well as promoting outdoor activities and destinations in Nebraska. Wagner, whose career at Game and Parks began in 1979, walks, talks, lives, breathes and blogs about Nebraska’s outdoors. He grew up in rural Gretna, building forts in the woods, hunting, fishing, collecting leaves, and generally thriving on constant outdoor activity. One of the primary goals of his blog is to get people, especially young ones, to have fun and spend time outside!

Gorgeous, Cool Morning Fishing The Elkhorn

I enjoyed a gorgeous, cool morning fishing in Nebraska’s Elkhorn River and backwater areas with a couple young family members of mine as well as a young family friend. I’d highly encourage you and your family to take advantage of Nebraska’s nice, cool summer weather while we have it by goin’ out and doin’ a little fishin’! Fish and Wildlife Convention Week

It’s been a very busy, but enjoyable and exciting week for us at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. We hosted and participated in the 2013 Annual Summer Meeting for the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Association here in Omaha. Base camp for it was the Hilton Hotel in downtown Omaha. I’ll be previewing the inaugural Scheels Camo Classic Golf Tournament on The Great Outdoor Radio Show I host this Saturday morning. Catfish Stocked at Lake Halleck for Family Fishing Night

Quick blog post to let you know that just yesterday at Lake Halleck in Papillion, 130  really nice 2 to 5 pound channel catfish (see pic below) were stocked from the Game and Parks Commission’s North Platte Fish Hatchery.
