Nebraska Outdoor Education Center to Honor Veterans During August

LINCOLN – August is Veterans Appreciation Month at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln. All veterans with proper identification may shoot for $5 per 30 minutes on Mondays during the month.

In addition, archers can sight in their bows for just $5 on Fridays in August.

The education center is located at 4703 N. 44th St. This family-friendly center is open to all shooters and archers and offers a wide range of workshops and other activities for youth and families, as well as hunter education classes. The indoor ranges are open Friday through Tuesday. The outdoor archery range is free and open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Aug. 9 – Families on Target, 10:30 a.m.

Aug. 13 – Bowhunter Education Field Day, 5 p.m.; Youth Basic Pistol Workshop, 6 p.m.

Aug. 13, 14, 16 – Bowhunter Education Course

Aug. 14 – Ladies’ Basic Pistol Workshop, 6 p.m.

Aug. 15 – Archery Deer Hunting Workshop, 6 p.m.

Aug. 20 – 65-and-over Basic Pistol Workshop, 5 p.m.

Aug. 27 – Bowhunter Education Field Day, 5 p.m.; NRA Range Safety Officer Certification Course, 5:30 p.m.

Aug. 29 – Archery Deer Hunting Workshop, 6 p.m.
