I know most of you will think I am crazy, but I am still on the water. This past week has been nice and knowing this might be “the last hurrah” for my open-water fishing for the year, I have been taking advantage of every nice afternoon that I can. Yes, I know hunting seasons are in full swing, and I will be doing that too; I also might get around to setting some steel again this fall/early winter. But, for now I am still fishing.
And I ain’t done yet.
We are close to transitioning to ice-fishing here soon, and in fact I anticipate there might be some folks venturing out onto Nebraska ice in the next few days. If you fish open water late into the fall, you can follow the fish and know exactly where you will want to be drilling your first holes through the ice this winter.
I will get around to giving a little report on my fall fishing here soon. For now there is so much to do in Nebraska’s great outdoors and so little time. Put on another layer of clothes, another hooded sweatshirt or two, and GO FISH!
