Meadowlark, Goldenrod and Cottonwood were suggested because they are the state bird, flower and tree, respectively.  Brando, Carson, and Fonda are famous Nebraska entertainers Marlon Brando, Johnny Carson, and Henry Fonda.  Disco, Rock and Jazz are ” cool and Lincoln has a rad music scene”.  Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere are ” a timeless trio of names”.  Zephyr, Breeze and Gale was offered because “these chicks were meant to ride the wind!”.  Finally, Cody, Bill and Annie are “The cowboys and cowgirls of Nebraska”.

Voting will end on 2 July and the winner will be announced on 3 July.
