If you are a Nebraska angler, you might want to know about these ongoing projects. There have been news releases circulating about these, but I want to repeat them here:

Calamus visitors should call ahead as closures continue

Ongoing road construction continues to affect public access at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area. Guests planning trips to the park are advised to call ahead for the latest updates.

Gracie Creek fishing access, Little York Point and Valley View Campground and boat ramp currently are the only accessible areas in the park.

Entering the busy spring fishing and camping season, it is recommended park visitors proactively contact the SRA before their trip to find out the status of area closures at the park. Closures on most areas are expected to last through April and into May.

Contact Calamus Reservoir SRA at 308-346-5666 or ngpc.calamus@nebraska.gov for the latest updates.

Northeastern Nebraska state parks see many enhancements

Willow Creek SRA – The construction of a covered, ADA-compliant fishing pier is nearly complete at Willow Creek SRA in Pierce County. This 15-foot by 20-foot pier is located near the boat ramp west of the campground. The pier, which will have benches installed, is designed for anglers to fish in deeper water while providing accessibility to all anglers. Funding for the $311,000 project is provided by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Aquatic Habitat Fund, Capital Maintenance Fund and Federal Aid in Sportfish Restoration.
