Why Do I Hunt?

As the popular hunting seasons in Nebraska draw nearer, I thought you might like to read my perspectives about why I hunt.  I am a hunter. I write and speak about hunting. I take images and record videos of hunting. I interact with hunters. Hunting is a major part of both my personal and professional lives. With my occupation (as a longtime communications and marketing specialist at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission) and through my personal social media accounts, …

Get Fit for Hunting and Fishing

You just read the title of this blog and I know what you’re thinking (or voicing aloud): “Come on, Greg, really? Us hunters and anglers need to be physically fit?” After all, aren’t we just sitting in blinds and boats or on the bank? Au contraire. Scott arrived at 7:30 to help set out the decoys and last minute prep before hunkering down below ground. I made it a point to arrive early to get …

A Couple of Bucks

It’s nearly impossible for me, or any of NEBRASKAland’s staff, to go in the field on our own time and not photograph if the opportunity presents. The two bucks above are proof of that, as they were photographed on a recent deer archery hunt. In fact, the only way not to work is for us to leave our cameras at home. But why would we do that? There may be a photograph we need to take.
