A couple weeks ago I teased that I was heading out to spend some time on “the river”. I did, I made it. It was wonderful!
Where did I go? Well, let me answer that this way: I went here:
Trout Fishing in Nebraska’s Streams
I went west! In the middle of August, I found running water with water temps. down into the 50’s F! And those waters were in really purdy places and trout were swimming there!
It was late summer, so of course had to float a few ‘hoppers!

Fished another stream with the kids. We all caught fish. Not going to clutter this post with photos of everyone, this will give you the idea:

Did have an evening on a bit larger river. Found that the cutbows there were bigger!

One last photo: I know trout can be harder than some other species to handle and release. However, with the right gear and presentations, and a little care, they very much can and are successfully caught and released. My partners and I kept nary a fish, they were all released so we can catch them again!
