Saw this posted on our Game & Parks Facebook page this morning. Got to share it!
“Nebraska Game and Parks conservation officers helped recover a vehicle at the bottom of Pawnee Lake earlier this spring after a fisherman found the vehicle with his sonar.
The vehicle was recovered and identified as stolen in 2023, but maybe the best part? Conservation Officer Ben Keller found a whopper of a catfish inside it once it was on dry land.”
Don’t believe it? Here are the photos:

Know of a few canals and rivers where “Detroit rip-rap” (car bodies) has been used along some banks. Wherever that “cover” was in the water there have always been rumors of big flathead catfish using those cavities. The joke was always that some humongous flathead would move into an old Oldsmobile and then roll up the windows. That is why they always broke the line when they were hooked!
Now we have proof!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy your holiday, hope you get to spend some time on the water!
