Weekend is here again. I know many will be heading for the water. Not many may want to use this particular access site, but in case you do:
Lewis and Clark’s South Shore ramp temporarily closed
The South Shore boat ramp at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area is closed temporarily to access. According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, sediment has been deposited at the inlet of the South Shore Area due to littoral drift.
Littoral drift is the movement of sediment along a shoreline due to waves approaching the shore at an angle.
Boaters can use alternative boat ramps at Lewis and Clark SRA/Weigand Marina, Bloomfield Campground Area and Miller Creek Campground Area. Signage has been posted at the site, and updates will be shared as conditions change.
“We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate the public’s patience as we work to ensure safe and sustainable lake access,” Park Superintendent Jonathan Voelker said.
Game and Parks is working on a solution and hopes to resolve the situation by early summer.
Even if you were planning to use that access this weekend, do not let the closure keep you from going fishing.
GO FISH! And have a great weekend!
