Seems to be some debate this year about Christmas movies. By the way, I say Die Hard is one, a Christmas movie that is.
There are several Christmas movies that my family and I view repeatedly: Elf makes that list, and Christmas with the Kranks. Blue ribbon status is reserved for A Christmas Story and of course Christmas Vacation.
I was reminded how much my warped sense of humor has rubbed off on my kids when I recently found this hanging on the wall of my daughter and son-in-law’s place:
Don’t get me wrong. We love the Christmas season as much as anyone. Especially love the time spent together; often try to do some of that on the water or in the field.
It does seem to me however, that the celebration of the holidays sometimes gets lost in all the busyness, lists to do, schedules to keep. Sometimes we forget what we are celebrating and who we are celebrating it with. I believe we often need to practice Turkey Time more often, even during the holidays (especially during the holidays?).
Discovered a Steve Martin (and Steep Canyon Rangers) song that sums it up well:
Can’t wait!
